Schedule changes due to potential impacts from Francine

The Gulf Coast could face potential impacts from Francine. Here is a list of closures/ cancellations/ postponements around South Mississippi.
The Hancock County Fair announced on Facebook that the fair will be canceled on Wednesday, September 11th. All craft vendors can set up Thursday. The fair will resume as scheduled on Thursday, September 12th. The fair also posted on social media that as of Monday, the Thursday Barrel Race is canceled per the group putting it on. Campers may arrive asap before ground gets saturated. All other Thursday events will go on as planned.
The Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) Gulfport’s status has escalated to Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness One, and manning on NCBC Gulfport remains reduced to essential personnel on September 11. Pass Road gate will remain open unless winds speeds exceed 50 knots. The gates at 28th Street and Broad Ave. are currently closed. NCBC Gulfport is currently scheduled to open under a two-hour delay on September 12. The 28th Street gate will reopen to traffic at 7 a.m. The Child Development Center, fitness center, The Grill and the Navy Exchange (NEX) mini-mart will open at 8 a.m. The Visitor Control Center will open at 9 a.m. The NEX main store and Navy Federal Credit Union will open at 10 a.m. The Colmer Dining Facility will resume meal service with dinner at 4:30 p.m.
Gulf Islands National Seashore will close the National Park Service-managed areas of the barrier islands in Mississippi beginning September 9 in preparation for Tropical Storm Francine. All recreation users should evacuate, and commercial partners should cease services immediately from Horn, Petit Bois, West Petit Bois, Cat, and Ship Islands. Concessionaire services to Ship Island via Ship Island Excursions will cease until further notice. The Davis Bayou Campground will be closed effective at noon on September 10.
Out of caution of Tropical Storm Francine, the decision has been made to postpone the Eagles Under the Oaks Golf Tournament, that was scheduled for Thursday, September 12. The event, however, will be rescheduled.
Industry Day at Infinity Science Center is postponed until further notice
All games for CYO Sports Diocese of Biloxi are canceled for tomorrow night, September 11, due to weather.
Due to Tropical Storm Francine, the Biloxi Shuckers and Mississippi Braves have been postponed on Tuesday and Wednesday at Keesler Federal Park. Tuesday’s game will be made up with a doubleheader on Thursday, September 12, starting at 5:35 PM. Gates open at 5:00 PM. Wednesday’s game will be rescheduled for a later date.
Mississippi Aquarium will be closed on Wednesday, September 11th. The aquarium plans to reopen on Thursday, September 12th at 10 a.m.
Murky Waters BBQ in Gulfport will be closed Wednesday, September 11th. They will reopen on Thursday.
Long Beach Community Food Pantry will be closed for business on Wednesday, September 11th.
Jackson-George Regional Library branches will reopen on Friday, September 13, with normal library hours (9 am – 4 pm) following the anticipated impacts of Tropical Storm Francine.
The Harrison County Library System will be closed on Wednesday, September 11th.
The Salvation Army MS Coast facilities will be closed on Wednesday.
Lynn Meadows Discovery Center will be closed Wednesday, September 11th.
All locations of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast will be closed Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Paul’s Pastry Shop will be Closed on Wednesday, September 11th.
All South Mississippi Housing Authority (Region 8) Offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 11 and will reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 12.
All Goodwill of South Mississippi locations will be closed Wednesday, September 11th.
Due to the expected impacts of Tropical Storm Francine, all City of Moss Point Administrative, Municipal Court, and Utility Services departments will be CLOSED starting Wednesday, September 11th at 12:00pm.
Feed My Sheep will be closed Wednesday, September 10, 2024.
Harrison County beaches will close September 10th at midnight and reopen Thursday, September 12th at midnight.
The Mississippi State Department of Health offices and Harrison and Stone counties will be closed September 12th. George County opening at 8 a.m. Hancock, Jackson and Pearl River counties opening at noon.
Ingalls Shipbuilding announced the following shift changes: First shift operations in Pascagoula will proceed as scheduled with a 6 a.m. start time on Wednesday, September 11. Second shift operations will end at 7 p.m., and the third and fourth shifts will be canceled. Operations are expected to resume on Thursday, September 12 at 6 a.m. Liberal leave (excused unpaid absence) is in effect and will remain in effect until 2:30 p.m. on September 12. For employees at Avondale, we ask that they check their work emails for updates and guidance.
The Humane Society of South Mississippi will be closing at 1 p.m. Wednesday to the public. Stop by the shelter this morning at 10 a.m. to take home your storm buddy and stay safe!

All Singing River Health System clinics will close early at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11. Singing River Orthopedics and Singing River Colorectal Surgery clinics will be closed all day.
