Ocean Springs HVAC technician to compete at the HVAC National Championship

Ocean Springs based HVAC technician, Alex Ivey, has qualified to compete in the final round at the Service Titan HVAC National Championship.

Alex Ivey has been in the air conditioning business for over 18 years, and the last night nine years has been the proud owner of Ivey Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. These years of hard work and expertise have paid off as Alex has just recently qualified for the final round of the Service Titan HVAC National Championship, which holds a $40,000 first place prize.

Alex first had to pass a quiz based first round, and for the second round braze together a kit that was sent to his home which showcased his quality, speed, and safety. The third and final round will take place in West Palm Beach, Florida and involve a variety of criteria.

“They’ll be looking at the quality of the work, speed and also safety of it, and it’ll also be some kind of installation process. We don’t know exactly what we’ll be facing up against until we get there and about ten minutes before the competition,” said Alex Ivey.

Alex is one of ten finalists out of 8,000 participants who began in the competition, and the only one who’s based along the Mississippi coast, something which he takes great pride in.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to represent south Mississippi and Ocean Springs imparticular.  I’m the only person from the coast who’s actually in the competition, everyone else is from all over the country. It’s going to make for an interesting deal because we all work on different types of equipment all around the country, so yeah it means a lot.”

Alex definitely didn’t come all this way just to lose and going into the competition, has no shortage of confidence he’ll get the job done.

“I’m going to tell you right now I feel really confident about that competition.  I’m going to represent Ocean Springs really well. As far as skills and stuff and being prepared, I’ll be the most prepared there.”

The competition will take place September 11-14th in West Palm Beach, Florida and will air in December.
