Preparation ahead of Tropical Storm Francine
With some potential impacts to our state from Tropical Storm Francine, there are some things you should keep in mind as you go through your storm checklist.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is encouraging Mississippians to prepare for flash floods ahead of Tropical Storm Francine making landfall.
At this time, heavy rain and flash floods are expected in the Gulf Coast and areas of south Mississippi from Wednesday into Friday.
Mississippians should prepare for severe weather, potential power outages, and possible evacuations.
It’s also important to have a disaster ready kit which should contain at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food and water, though more is encouraged such as a flashlight with extra batteries, medication, copies of important documents such as a birth certificate, passport or marriage licenses, extra cash, and a first aid kit.
