Suspects wanted for second-degree arson in connection to fire at Safe Mini Storage in Gulfport

Arson Suspects

Two suspects have been identified in connection to the fire at the Safe Mini Storage in Gulfport.

Officials have been investigating the cause of the fire ever since flames broke out at the Safe Mini Storage off Highway 49 last Thursday.

During the investigation, Gulfport police detectives identified Landon Cain Owens and Raechelle Chianne Jackson as the suspects who entered the business and fled shortly after the fire began. Owen and Jackson are currently wanted.

Around 30 storage units were impacted, though crews were able to save some units on the north end of the impacted building.

Gulfport Fire Chief Billy Kelley spoke on how they identified the suspects and just how vast the loss is for many of the owners of those storage units. “It was a very fast-moving fire, very hot fire. Just all indications on scene made us made us feel like there was just something different about it. So that’s when our investigators started checking cameras and looking at things and we do have some folks on camera that shouldn’t have been there. It’s very sad because there’s, you know, people’s grandparents’ belongings or people that are under construction or their houses have all their furnishings in there. People have antiques in there, you know.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident or their whereabouts is urged to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959.
