MDOT awards Highway 49 widening project
Work has begun on a project that will widen Highway 49 from four to six lanes.
The work will go from O’Neal Road to north of school road in Gulfport and will include a new continuous flow intersection at Highway 53 and Highway 49.
Clearing and drainage work is underway and the $44.9 million project is being done by Necaise Brothers of Gulfport.
The completion date is in 2026.
