Moss Point New Non-Contact Radar Speed Detection Device To Enforce Traffic
Moss Point police are cracking down on speeding within city limits with new camera equipment.
The new radar cameras officers will use are part of a larger program to increase public safety throughout the city.
The speed detection device allows officers to check for speed and capture license plates at the same time.
Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley tells us more on why the department decided to implement this new tech. “It takes a picture of the driver and also as it going by, he takes a picture of the tag it gets uploaded to the database. No traffic, nothing like that. So, it’s more efficient, more safe for everyone involved. This gives us a tool to increase the traffic enforcement productivity and efficiency of one officer out there writing tickets and slowing people down.”
Drivers exceeding the speed limit will receive a citation in the mail with specifics on the speeding incident.
