UPDATE: Harrison County suspect who escaped custody is re-captured

Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has captured a suspect who fled custody on Sunday.

Sheriff Matt Haley said 29-year-old Joseph Rigell Rayborn of Saucier was recaptured Monday morning. He is shown in the Harrison County jail docket as being booked in at 9:20 a.m.

Haley said he was found sleeping in an abandoned house at East Wortham and Highway 67.

Rayborn fled from deputies on Sunday afternoon after being taken into custody. He was put into handcuffs following a domestic dispute on Success Road. Deputies also learned he had an outstanding warrant for violating probation on a burglary charge.

After being placed in handcuffs, Rayborn fled. A deputy was injured during the foot pursuit and Rayborn got away.

The injured deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
