Groundbreaking for Merchants and Marine Bank in Moss Point one year after the tornado

Earlier Tuesday in Moss Point, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Merchants and Marine Bank.

The original bank was destroyed in last year’s tornado. The building stood for months after the tornado before being demolished in January of this year.

The community was invited out to this afternoon’s ceremony, as city leaders and bank officials planted their shovels in the ground at the site off Main Street to mark a new era for the bank.

It was also a moment of reflection for many. As they look forward to the future one year later.
