RV park case in Ocean Springs headed to the Mississippi Supreme Court

Jackson County Judge Keith Miller has ruled in favor of Ocean Springs Island RV Resort LLC. – upholding the Jackson County Board of Supervisors special exception allowing the RV park to be built in the Gulf Park Estates neighborhood.

The judge’s job was to decide whether the board of supervisors could legally grant a special exception.

The Gulf Park Estates residents who filed the lawsuit said that the board of supervisors misinterpreted the ordinance and that RV parks are not allowed in the zone.

The judge disagreed, ruling that the board legally granted the exception.

Eamon Muhiuddin, who has been leading this effort, tells WXXV that this is not over.

“We’re in the process of appealing it to the Supreme Court. We’re very confident that we will prevail over there,” Eamon Muhiuddin said. “Since day one, we knew that this case – because of all the political dimensions of it, the money in it, who’s in power around here – we knew it was going to go to the Supreme Court. This is fundamentally about the law and people. We have approximately 2000 people supporting us. There are 6,000 people in this neighborhood. 1,726 petition signatures. The people are unanimously on our side. We’re the underdog, but we’re fighting for the right thing.”
