Pelican Pound Program returns to Ocean Springs

Cynthia Sutton with Ocean Springs Main Street is here to tell us about the Pelican Pound Program. That program is coming back for the summer.

The pelican pound, a wooden nickel valued at $5 per coin, can be used at shops, restaurants, and galleries around town at participating businesses only.

Pelican pounds can only be picked up at the Ocean Springs Visitors Center/Chamber-Main Street office between 9 – 4 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Look for the pelican pound participant fliers in shops, restaurants and galleries windows. Program details can be found at www.oceanspringschamber.com or by visiting the Ocean Springs Chamber-Main Street/Visitors Center offices located at 1000 Washington Avenue.

By shopping and dining locally more than 50% of the dollars spent return to the local community creating more local jobs, better parks, recreation, community events and more making our town a great place to live and visit.

The Pelican Pound program was developed by the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce–Main Street– Tourism Bureau. Pelican Pounds can be obtained by tour groups and conference goers coordinated through the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street–Tourism Bureau offices while supplies last.

The campaign and opportunity to spend a Pelican Pound ends September 13. Coin will not be valid after September 13.
