Southern Railway Commission to meet to discuss possible update on Mobile Amtrak station

The Southern Railway Commission quarterly meeting is coming up at 9 a.m. next Friday at the community foundation of South Alabama in Mobile.

Amtrak, the Alabama State Port Authority, and the railroads issued a joint status report earlier this month to give an update on the progress to bring passenger rail service between Mobile and New Orleans.

The report said Amtrak and the Federal Railroad Administration are holding bi-weekly calls to resolve remaining issues with the City of Mobile and they have been meeting to hammer out a lease agreement.
