Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Men’s Golf team wins National Title

Cue Queen’s hit, “We Are the Champions,” the Division II Men’s Golf Championship is back in the state of Mississippi! After their first national title in 2018, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College brought home their second national title after claiming the 2024 NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship in Joplin, Missouri.
The outstanding Bulldog team totaled a team score of 1,170 strokes to secure the ship. MGCCC had three players finish as a top-18 finisher, all five players finished as All-Americans, and Gautier’s very own Peyton Russell was the top finisher for the blue and gold with a total of 290 where he was tied for the second finish.
Other Gulf Coast high school alums on the men’s golf team include Andrew Zielinksi from Ocean Springs, Mateo Jimenez from Hancock, and Garner Seymour from Biloxi.
This is Coach Brad Thorton’s second national title on the Bulldog staff, but his first as the head coach.
