One suspect in custody, second suspect sought in Ocean Springs armed robbery

A Vancleave man is in custody and an Ocean Springs man is being sought in connection with an armed robbery in Ocean Springs.

Police Chief Ryan LeMaire said 29-year-old Demetric Jackson was arrested early Monday morning and charged with armed robbery and grand larceny. He was taken to Jackson County jail and bond has not be set pending an initial appearance. The second suspect, Jamie Sandidge, is still at large has a warrant for armed robbery and grand larceny.

LeMaire said about 2:36 a.m. Monday, officers were sent to the 3900 block of Bienville Boulevard for a reported armed robbery. There, they found a victim with visible wounds left on his arm and right palm from what he said was a pistol. The victim said he was hit over the head with a stick and that a backpack was taken from him. He said the suspects were known to him.

The suspect vehicle was located at a residence on North 8th Street and the passenger, identified as Jackson, was arrested. The driver, identified as Sandidge, fled the scene.

Investigators say Sandidge and Jackson took a tractor from a residence on Trout Street and abandoned it in some woods, where it was recovered.
