George County deputy assaulted
A George County deputy was injured in an assault Thursday while trying to execute a court order.
deputies went to a residence in the Howell community with the court order.
they were met with a man identified as 66-year-old Robert Lewis of Lucedale, who had a weapon. Deputies tried to take Lewis into custody but he refused to comply
Lewis was eventually taken into custody and charged with 10 counts of assault on an officer. He was taken to the George County jail and the judge denied bond.
A Deputy with the George County Sheriff’s Office suffered minor injuries during the assault.
