Students trek across the United States

Students at Crossroads Elementary School walked across the entire United States of America, a trek that only took them about 30 minutes.
Today, representatives from the Mississippi Geographic Alliance at the University of Mississippi brought a giant map of our country to the school for the students to explore. The kids walked across all 50 states while enjoying fun, hands on activities enriching their geography, science, and social studies lessons. Joyce Youngblood with the Mississippi Geographic Alliance said, “Geography is related to everything so we really want them to connect what they’re learning with where it is.”
The students learned about the concept of city, state, and country borders and got a quick lesson on the compass rose. They now know if you’re headed towards the beach you’re headed south.
