Discounted Mammograms Offered During Sept. & Oct.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to increase awareness of the importance of early detection and screening, Singing River Health System (S.R.H.S.) will offer discounted mammogram screenings at all of its locations throughout September and October.

“Our mission is to improve the quality of life in our community,” said Dr. Elizabeth Park, a radiologist who specializes in women’s imaging at The Imaging Center in Ocean Springs Medical Park. “One important way we do this is by helping women be proactive about their health by offering this affordable, potentially life-saving service at a time when there is heightened awareness. We hope to empower women to ask questions of their physicians and to get screened for breast cancer.”

Throughout September and October, women may receive a screening mammogram for $70 at Ocean Springs Medical Park, Singing River Medical Park in Pascagoula and North Bay Diagnostics in Cedar Lake Medical Plaza.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society (A.C.S.), one in eight women will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime, and more than 230,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year. Early detection is vital, and mammograms are an essential way to screen breast cancer.

Payment is required at the time of service, and a physician order for the screening is necessary. For more information, or to make an appointment, call 228-818-1036 or 228-809-2355.
