Krewe of Barkloxi Parade rolls through Biloxi

It was a dogs day out at Point Cadet Plaza as the Krewe of Barkloxi rolled throughout the park.

The Krewe of Barkloxi has pulled out all the stops as dogs and their humans dressed in Mardi Gras colors. Some have even driven hours to see the pawrade.

From east to west, north to south, dog lovers have come from far and wide to participate in the Krewe of Barkloxi’s annual pawrade.

Over a hundred dogs were ready to throw beads in the parade with even more on the sidelines ready to fetch them.

This event continues to grow each year, garnering attention from people outside the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

News 25 spoke with travelers to see why they make the trip. Kentucky resident Pat McCullough said, “Just look. I’m a dog person, and this is where dog people need to be this weekend.”

Kentucky resident Stanley Stallions said, “I like Barkloxi, because like I said, we’ve been a dog owner for five years. I like something like this where you can get them acclimated to other dogs. Barkloxi is just so neat.”

Doggie Essential Pawtique owner Angelia Jordan said, “This is my third year I believe, and it’s just such a good market.  Everyone here is a dog lover and they will come and buy stuff for their dogs. It’s worth the drive for me.”

“We’re more used to dog shows, and dog performance events, and this is just fun.”
