Arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty in Pascagoula

On January 30, 2024, Pascagoula Police Officers responded to a disturbance call at Cambridge Park Apartments involving Derrick Moody of Pascagoula.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that two Pitbulls had recently been abused. The extent of the abuse is being investigated and both dogs were taken into custody by the Pascagoula Animal Control Division and have received medical attention.
Moody was arrested and is being charged with Felony Animal Cruelty. He is currently being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center and is awaiting his initial court appearance with Judge Lachaussee.
Moody could face a $5000 fine and up to three years in prison, if found guilty. This is an active investigation being conducted by our Criminal Investigations Division.
