Drive-Thru could come to medical marijuana dispensaries
It’s been nearly a year since medical marijuana sales began in Mississippi, and the Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee met in December to discuss the future of medical marijuana dispensaries.
Drive-thrus are not only for fast food. In fact, they are a great tool for people with disabilities, which is why we may start seeing them at medical marijuana dispensaries.
The Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee is looking to make medical marijuana more accessible to people with disabilities.
A few ways of doing this include telehealth appointments for home-bound residents, allowing patients to get a month’s supply, and…. adding a drive-thru in dispensaries.
Bud’s Bees is a family-owned dispensary in Ocean Springs. Billy Wilson tells us why they would be more than thrilled to add a drive-thru to their facility.
“The drive-thru would be phenomenal. There’s a lot of people that have debilitations which is why they got the card, for pain and things like that,” Billy Wilson, co-owner and budtender, said. “So, if they were able to not get out of their car and still have access to the medication, that would just open up a lot of doors for people.”
The committee will pass these suggestions to state legislators, who can draft these bills if they would like to.
It is still early in the legislative session, so we will keep you updated if any of this makes it onto the House floor.
