Koenenn named Government Relations Director for MDOT District 6

HATTIESBURG, MISS. — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has named Kodie Koenenn, of Diamondhead, as Southern District Government Relations Director for District 6. Headquartered in Hattiesburg, MDOT District 6 encompasses 14 counties in southeast Mississippi.

“Kodie’s experience as a public official and public servant has thoroughly prepared him for a constituent services role at MDOT,” said Brad White, MDOT Executive Director. “His understanding of government processes as well as the relationships he has built will well serve the people of District 6 as Kodie collaborates with officials and constituents.”

Kodie Koenenn most recently served as a Hancock County Supervisor, where he served as vice president to the Board. He is also a former City Councilman for the City of Diamondhead, where he represented Ward 4. Prior to his roles as an elected official, Koenenn worked in the field of water treatment operations and management and is experienced in disaster recovery efforts having working with various government agencies.

A longtime community advocate and volunteer, Koenenn is involved in many organizations, including: Mississippi Rural Water and Operators Association, Hancock County Young Professionals, Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), Rotary Club of Central Hancock County, Coastal Conservation Association, Waveland Civic Association and Fin & Feather Club. He is also a graduate of the Hancock County Leadership program and a certified water and plant operator.

As Southern District Government Relations Director in District 6, Koenenn will manage communication between the department, area government officials and the public to foster relationships and ensure transparency. He began the role effective Jan. 8, 2024.
