12/18 – Jeff Vorick’s “Temperatures Plummet” Monday Evening Forecast

Temperatures will plummet this evening as a secondary cold front will make its way through the region. Winds will pick up somewhat overnight which may offset the temperatures from bottoming out totally. Skies will be clear and wind chills could be in the upper-20s to lower-30s to begin your Tuesday.Mainly sunny skies outside of very thin upper-level cloud cover will be what you can expect tomorrow. Cold northerly winds will elevate throughout the day.

Despite direct sunlight, temperatures will be 5 to 8 degrees below average. High pressure will transit the region through the middle of the week which will help modify the airmass. Southerly flow will bring back warmth and moisture back into the region through the end of the week. As we look towards the extended forecast, there are signals of rain and thunderstorms this weekend into next week. Details need to be ironed out but it is something worth watching.
