Pascagoula man charged in shooting death of stepfather

A Pascagoula man is in jail, charged in the shooting death of his stepfather.

Pascagoula Police say 19-year-old Tylen Atkins has been charged with murder. He turned himself in to police on Saturday and is in the Jackson County jail under a bond of $1 million.

Police say officers were sent to a resident on Lanier Avenue just after 11 p.m. Friday in reference to a 911 call about a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, 46-year-old Albert Deflanders, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Atkins shot his stepfather.
