Moss Point athletics receives $75,000 grant from Dick’s Sporting Goods

Moss Point School District’s athletic department got a huge windfall to their budget, thanks to a sporting goods company.

This afternoon, the Tigers accepted a $75,000 check from the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundations 75 for 75 Program. The program awards youth and athletic programs money to use for facilities and equipment.

The presentation was made during Moss Point’s pep rally at the school, surprising the students.

Moss Point Head Baseball Coach Julius Bridges says he is thankful after talking to a Dick’s Sporting Goods employee about replacing damaged equipment which led to Bridges realizing the school was eligible for a much-needed grant after the athletic facilities were damaged in the June tornado. Coach Bridges said, “I was sitting back, sitting in my parking lot, and I got a call from Robert. He said ‘hey, we got it.’ It was definitely a blessing to get it. I’m thankful for it and looking forward to using it. I’m blessed that these kids get a chance to get something that can use after the tragedy we had in June.”

The use of the funds will go to baseball and softball facilities. Coach Bridges says he couldn’t be more appreciative of Dick’s Sporting Goods for their generosity.
