Ocean Springs man sentenced for September 2021 crime
Vinet Moore was sentenced to 75 years, with 50 years to serve in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Moore was sentenced for kidnapping, aggravated assault, and burglary of a home.
On September 9, 2021, two children called 911 when Moore broke into their home and assaulted their mother with a sledgehammer.
That woman was identified as Moore’ estranged wife.
The children and surrounding homes were evacuated, and Moore held the woman hostage.
She tried to escape, causing Moore to shoot her.
She survived her injuries.
After a 5 hour stand-off, Moore surrounded to law enforcement.
