8/23 – Chris’s “VERY HOT” Wednesday Evening Forecast

Today has been miserably hot across the area most of our reporting sites are well into triple digit values with heat indices well above 110. Temperatures will slightly cool this evening to the upper 80s. Tonight we will see clear skies and warm low temperatures in the low 80s. High pressure continues to be the most dominate feature across the there area. Dangerous heat is expected across the southern six counties through the remainder of the week and into the weekend. Stay hydrated and limit time outdoors during the peak heating hours of the day. As a result a EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING  IS IN EFFECT from 10am-8pm on Thursday for heat indices of 110-116 expected. There is however a chances for some relief from an afternoon  shower or thunderstorm induced by the sea-breeze. Friday’s forecast is a wash rinse and repeat of Thursdays forecast the only slight change is a slightly lower chance for some relief from an afternoon  shower or thunderstorm.

As we enter the weekend high pressure continues to the dominate feature on Saturday leading to very hot temperatures. On Sunday a front moves in to the northern portions of the state which will increase shower and thunderstorm activity. This will continue through the end of the 7 day forecast. It will also aid in cooling temperatures a tad to the low to mid 90s.
