Gulfport man charged with running from police, hitting motorist

Biloxi Police have charged a man with failing to stop for police and hitting another motorist trying to flee.

41-year-old Rocco Charles Longo of Gulfport was charged with felony eluding. He also had an outstanding felony warrant in Gulfport. His was taken to Harrison County jail with a bond set at $50,000.

Police say about 2 p.m. Tuesday, officers tried to pull Longo over in the area of Highway 90 and Sadler Beach. Instead of stopping for officers, Longo fled into Gulfport, where he hit another motorist on Cowan Road.

Longo then continued to try to elude police until his vehicle became disabled. He then tried to flee on foot, police said, but was taken into custody shortly afterward.

There were no injuries in the incident, police said.
