Smithsonian Museum visits Stone County

The Smithsonian Museum is bringing a slice of history and culture to the Magnolia State.

Beginning August 28th, Stone County will host ‘Crossroads: Change in Rural America’ in partnership with the Smithsonian’s ‘Museum on Main Street’ program.

The exhibit is interactive and tells how rural life in America has changed over time in communities like Wiggins.

Director of Stone County Economic Development Counsel Betsy Rowell says the exhibit will serve as a meeting place for conversations about how rural life in America has changed over time. “So, we’re taking a look across the country at what has changed over the past 100 plus years. How we began, how our industries have changed, how our populations have changed, how our priorities have changed across the country here.”

The Crossroads tour will launch in Stone County before making its way north to other host sites across the state.
