Things to know when voting in August Primary Election

Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner has four things people of Harrison County need to know before going to vote Tuesday.

First, you must provide an ID because it is required when voting in the state of Mississippi.

Second, if you’re unsure about where your polling location is and you don’t have your voter registration card, you can check the county website, click on precinct locator, and find your voting location.

Next, it’s important to remember that tomorrow is a primary election, meaning you have the option to vote either Republican or Democrat. All you need to do is tell the poll worker which ballot you wish to receive.

Lastly, some redistricting has taken place in Harrison County. In some areas, the lines have been redrawn for the House and Senate districts. If the change effects your area, notifications have been sent out to voters.

More importantly than these four tips, Ladner asks voters to please be patient when preparing to vote. “We just ask you to be patient. There may be some lines at precincts, so just continue to be patient as you always are on election day. The poll workers have been trained, and they’re working very hard to make sure that you’re able to cast your ballot.”

Just a reminder that voting in the primary election begins tomorrow at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m.
