Dunkin’ Donuts initiative raises awareness for childhood cancer

Dunkin’ Donuts is bringing awareness to childhood cancer with its annual Shine Gold Initiative.

Dunkin’ is giving guests a sweet way to support children battling cancer with the return of its Shine Gold Initiative.

Now through Saturday, August 5th, Dunkin’ is inviting its customers to ‘Shine Gold’ in a joint effort to bolster the mission of the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation which is to bring joy to children afflicted with illness.

The Shine Gold Initiative allows guests at participating Dunkin’ locations throughout the southeast to make a $2 donation to the foundation, in return for which they will receive a free Gold Joy donut as an expression of gratitude.

Gulfport Manager Ann Jones shares what is in the special treat and the significance of the initiative for herself. “It’s a regular glazed donut with yellow icing and a munchkin in the middle. We do it every year, once a year around the same time. It’s from 7/19 to 8/5. It means a lot to me. A lot because I’ve had several family members with cancer.”

Since its founding in 2006, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has granted more than $45 million to national and local nonprofits.
