Twins And Cancer

Having a twin with cancer could increase a person’s chances of getting the disease in the future.

Researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School Of Public Health followed a large group of twins for over three decades and found that well above a third of those people developed cancer.

Thirty-eight percent of those twin pairs who were developed from the same fertilized egg and about a quarter of those fertilized from two separate eggs were diagnosed with the same cancer type.

Some of the more common types of cancers observed were prostate, ovary, kidney, breast, skin melanoma and no melanoma skin cancers.

Heart Failure And Lifestyle

A new study suggests people who suffer from a common condition called heart failure with preserved ejection fraction may benefit from diet and exercise.

It’s more common among those who are overweight or obese and have trouble tolerating exercise.

Researchers designated a small group of older adults with the condition to either diet, exercise, or to diet and exercise for a period of five months.

Each group showed improvements in their exercise performance. But there was no significant change on the measure of quality of life.
