Keesler Federal Credit donates backpacks to local school districts

Keesler Federal Credit Union wants to make sure kindergartners are ready for school by donating backpacks full of supplies to school districts across the Coast.

Public schools here in South Mississippi received the supplies today and are loading up buses, trucks, and vans with the backpacks to take back to their districts.

Now in its fifth year, Keesler has donated 50,000 backpacks for Coast kindergartners through the Backpacks for Brighter Futures campaign. This campaign has impacted students and parents. Community Development Officer Anthony Abella said, “Every year that we’ve seen this going through, the Board of Directors have seen the impact it has made in our community. They’ve seen how much help it is for all the students involved and it helps the parents a little bit to make sure they don’t have to pay that little bit extra because we know that money is tight in these tough times.”

The campaign has expanded out to 26 school districts covering over 16,000 students for the year.
