Salvation Army Kettlethon
As the holiday season rolls around, so does that iconic Salvation Army red kettle. Tomorrow, one Coast family is taking the kettle drive to a new level.
Harrison County District 1 Supervisor Windy Swetman and his wife, Jon’elle, will be putting on their annual Kettlethon on Friday. From sun up to sun down, the two will be joined by the jolly man himself, Santa Claus, at the Biloxi Visitors Center to raise money for the Salvation Army.
Three years ago, Swetman and his wife came up with the idea and they’ve been going strong ever since. Their goal is to raise $5,000, one way or another. “We pledge to go out from 6 in the morning to 6 at night and ring that bell non-stop there at the Biloxi Visitor Center and not leave until we raise $5,000. So we either raise the money or write the check, one or the other. We’re gonna raise a minimum of $5,000 for the Salvation Army tomorrow. So, we invite all our family, our friends and our Coast community to come out, support the Salvation Army. If it’s not just bringing a toy or bring your spare change,” said Swetman.
If you won’t be able to stop by the Biloxi Visitors Center tomorrow, you can donate online by visiting www.onlinekettle.org/windyswetmanfamilyfriends.
