Suspect in hit-and-run that injured 13-year-old girl arrested

Gulfport Police have arrested a 20-year-old Gulfport man in connection with the hit-and-run on Saturday that injured a 13-year-old girl.

Police have arrested David Harrell on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious injury. He was taken to Gulfport Police Department for processing. He will then be taken to the Harrison County jail. Bond is set at $150,000.

Herrell is the suspect accused of hitting 13-year-old Teshawna Taylor on Saturday night on Dedeaux Road, then fleeing.

Teshawna was taken to a local hospital, then air-lifted to South Alabama before being transferred to a hospital in New Orleans to better deal with her injuries.

Teshawna is in a medically induced coma with head trauma, a broken leg, a broken hip and other injuries.
