Feeding the Gulf Coast provides meals for Salvation Army summer camp
Feeding the Gulf Coast is an organization providing meals to families in need. Their goal is a hunger-free Gulf Coast.
They are providing free meals to children under 18 this summer. Feeding the Gulf Coast donated meals to the Salvation Army’s summer camp.
Children attending the camp have the opportunity to bring their own lunch or take advantage of the lunch provided by Feeding the Gulf Coast.
Leftover food items are placed in a ‘share box’ where children have the option to take the food home with them.
Staff at the Salvation Army express the impact the donations make on their campers. Play Care Coordinator Angela Grandberry said, “Feeding the Gulf Coast is a great organization. It gives back to the community as well as meals, lunches, groceries to seniors. Right now, they’re providing us with breakfast for the children as well as lunch.”
Marketing Coordinator Morgan Shiyou said, “A few years ago, I was asking a kid what their favorite thing about camp was. It broke my heart, but they said, my favorite thing about camp was that I got to eat today. So, you never really know what’s going on with a family at home. You don’t know what children are up against at home or at school.”
