VFW 5699 hosted annual Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival

What was once a small Easter egg hunt has now turned into a tradition that is continuing to grow in Ocean Springs.

VFW Post 5699 had its third annual Community Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival Saturday. The Easter celebration was free to the public, featuring an egg hunt with 10,000 eggs.

Once kids were done hunting for treats, carnival games and prizes waited for them inside the venue along with food and other Easter goodies. Post Commander Lela Bremen said, “Our auxiliary has helped. Our JROTC from Ocean Springs High School has helped. We have locals that have helped us out. Humana has stepped up big to help us. So, it’s really a community event.”

Ocean Springs High JROTC Staff Sgt. Kristina Balsan said, “My favorite part about this one is that I get to see the kids, the joy in their face. With the time that we are in with the world, you don’t see that very often anymore.”

Every year, VFW Post 5699 switches up the theme of the Easter Egg Hunt and Carnival.
