‘Move to Learn’ star visits Biloxi Upper Elementary School

Students were moving and learning all day long at Biloxi Upper Elementary.

The Move to Learn campaign is based on two Mississippi academic studies that show a correlation between increased fitness and improved test scores, attendance, and fewer disciplinary incidents.

These videos feature Coach Larry Calhoun leading the students in simple movement exercises that can be done in small spaces.

Coach Calhoun turned the Indian gym into his own dancing hall, while also teaching them and encouraging them in the process.

Biloxi Upper Principal Jamie Barnes said it meant the world to him seeing his students participate with big smiles. “It is second to none because these kids deserve so much. They give us so much each and every day. They give us so much of their time, so it is wonderful to be able to give back to them a little bit of break in their everyday schedule.”
