Mother Speaks Out on Son Being Bullied

The mother of the Stone High student who threatened to shoot up the school last Thursday speaks out. She says the constant bullying and lack of punishment in the school drove him to his breaking point. News 25’s Laurene Callander sat down with his mother in an exclusive one-on-one interview. Here’s what she has to say.
Taylor Beach was a sophomore at Stone High School, until he was suspended for threatening to pull off a school shooting. An empty threat, according to his mother Marsha, who says Taylor was constantly bullied at school. “He’s not a fighter. He’s not going to do that. He’ll just continue letting them pick on him, bully him, throw stuff at him, call him names before he’ll fight back.”
Marsha says they repeatedly reached out to school officials to report the bullying, yet nothing was done and her son continued to be the target of constant bullying. While Marsha does not condone what her son did, she says the students who bullied her son should also be held accountable for their actions. “I think they should have the same punishment that my child has, if not worse, because they’re bullying. Bullying is against the law and that school says they have a zero tolerance for bullying but yet it’s still going on at that school.”
Taylor’s mom says the bullies would call her son names, throw rocks at him, and even spit on him on school property. She says she reported the incidents to the school but no disciplinary action was taken. “He’s told the teacher and he told the principal and the assistant principal at the high school. I’ve called up there, I’ve told them and they told me they’ll handle the situation,” said Marsha.
Meanwhile, Taylor is attending an alternative school for at least the next eight weeks. While it’s uncertain when, or if, he will return to Stone High, Taylor’s mother says this ordeal has been tragic for the entire family. She hopes her son won’t lose his drive to study to be a psychologist. “He’s kind of lost all desire for school because of this,” said Marsha, “And the teachers and principal at that school aren’t doing anything about it.”
News 25 reached out to Stone High School principal Dr. Diane Roberts to get the school’s side of the story. She tells us she is unable to comment due to school policy.
