John Cox honored for contributions to college baseball

Legendary Southern Miss broadcaster John Cox is being honored for his national contributions to college baseball, capturing the 48th annual Russell D. Anderson Wilbur Snypp Award courtesy of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Fox has been director of sports broadcasting at USM since 1979 and is one of just three recipients of the award all-time to earn the distinction in the Magnolia State, joining Mike Montoro from USM in 2006 and Jim Ellis from Mississippi State in 2019.

Cox is the second-longest tenured college sports broadcaster with more than 45 years of experience.
