Gautier Man Charged for Shooting at Police Officers
A Gautier man is facing criminal charges after exchanging gun fire with Gautier police officers earlier today.
It all started around 4:30 this morning as police were responding to a domestic violence call between a mother and her son in north Gautier. When police arrived and began approaching the house, 32-year-old Seth Edward Bemis began shooting at them. Officers then returned fire. Officials say over 50 rounds of ammunition were fired in the exchange.
Officers wounded Bemis in his left leg. He was transported to Singing River Hospital where he was treated and then transferred to Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
No officers were harmed in the exchange. Bemis faces multiple felony counts for shooting at the officers.
