Conference USA approves new baseball schedule
After a 2020 season with barely any college baseball, just about any schedule format sounds good for 2021 even if it is a little different.
As first reported by Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball, Conference USA athletic directors have voted to approve a new structure for the spring.
So, as it pertains to Southern Miss, teams will now play eight four-game series as opposed to 10 three-game series.
According to a source, teams will play nine-inning games on Friday and Sunday sandwiched around a seven-inning double header on Saturday.
Non-conference games will be played at the discretion of individual institutions and mid-week games will be allowed.
As for the Southeastern Conference, no major changes coming with AD’s expected to approve the usual ten three-game series format.
