PRCC baseball sends five players to four year programs
For a team that was in the NJCAA World Series as recently as 2019, it’s no surprise to see Pearl River Community College produce five four-year college signees on the same day.
Three of them being local, starting with Pearl River Central alum and former Southern Miss signee Austen Izzio who is heading to Charleston Southern where his brother Anthony is a coach.
Out of West Harrison is South Alabama signee Tate Parker, younger brother of Atlanta Braves minor leaguer Brandon Parker, and a transfer from Dallas Baptist who has actually yet to record his first official at-bat for the Wildcats.
Louisiana Tech signee Taylor Woodcock is also a former hurricane that was voted team captain by his teammates. Izzio said, “I had a couple teams reach out to me, but when my brother got the job there, I knew it was home. That was from the get-go. Once he got the job, I was going to go there with him and make that program special for me, myself and that family.”
Parker said, “Like you said, it’s close to home and that’s a big thing with my family being able to come to the games. It’s only an hour-and-a-half away. And South Alabama is a great program, so I’m really blessed to be able to go there.”
Woodcock said, “I like it there. Plus, they’re getting a brand new stadium and a brand new field this year, so that had a really big thing to do with it and Coach Burroughs really, really seemed like my type of guy when I was on the phone with him, so it felt comfortable going there.”
The other two players recognized today are Alabama signee Graham Crawford and Southeastern Louisiana signee Jacob Scherer.
