Ocean Springs senior Haley Fox signs with Stetson University

Just like older sister Mikaila Fox signing with Virginia softball two years before her, younger sister Haley Fox is now officially a collegiate softball signee as well.

Today, the Ocean Springs senior put pen to paper with Stetson University, a division 1 school from the Atlantic Sun Conference in DeLand, Florida.

Prior to a junior season that was mostly wiped out by COVID-19, the lefty slapper posted a .435 career batting average out of the lead-off spot to go along with 71 runs, 25 runs batted in, and 36 stolen bases.

Fox was also previously committed to Florida State as a freshman, but eventually had a change of heart over the summer, leading her to a different place in the Sunshine State. “Whenever I committed to Florida State, I was super-duper young. I truly didn’t know what I wanted to do yet. All I knew is that I wanted to play some softball, and that’s all I knew. I just didn’t know what I would be yet, and so after a couple of years, I got to thinking and I just realized that I wanted to do something more and that I wanted to be something big. I wanted to be a doctor. And I just realized Stetson was the place for me to be able to do that. I’d be able to play some high-level softball, Division I softball while getting an exceptional education that would put me in a better place for what I would be when I get older. I’m literally living the dream, which is amazing.”

Fox says she’s leaning towards being a pediatric doctor because she loves kids.
