Greenville officer killed in shootout Tuesday evening

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting in Greenville in which a female officer died.

MBI said Greenville Police and Washington County Sheriff’s Department were involved in the incident that happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Other news outlets are reporting that the shooting happened near Highway 1 and Highway 82.

The suspect in the shooting is in custody and is being treated at a local hospital.

MBI will share their findings with the local Attorney General’s office when their investigation is complete.
