9/26 – Brittany’s “Cooler” Monday Night Forecast

The cold front will continue to bring in drier conditions and cooler temperatures. No rainfall is expected for the next few days. And while the tropical system in the Caribbean (Ian) is still expected to track toward Florida, per NHC, we will be expecting some smaller impacts for our area over the next few days, as a result. Strong northeasterly flow will be in place over the region for the next few days. This will cause some coastal flooding concerns later in the week, since water will be piling up along east facing beaches. Waveland gauge is forecast to approach 3 ft.

The strong northerly flow will cause some breezy conditions in our area. Winds will be approaching 20mph, mainly in the coastal areas, with higher gusts tomorrow. Wednesday, winds will be stronger with conditions approaching wind advisory criteria (>25mph), so we will need to monitor these trends during future forecast updates. With breezy conditions the next few days, people will need to be cautious when driving and secure any loose items.
