Update on Bella the service dog

A follow up this morning on a story we brought you a week ago and this one has a happy ending!

After running from the Reserve at the Gulf Park Apartment Complex in St. Martin on December 30th, someone spotted Bella the Service Dog in the Windsor Park subdivision last Monday, identifying her by her collar and rabies tag.

Bella’s owner Jacob Cokely has diabetes and relies on Bella to detect changes in his blood sugar. Cokely and Bella have since been reunited.

He recalls their emotional reunion as she readjusts to being back home where she belongs. “She just ran up to me and my girlfriend and she jumped all over us and it was like she had never, it was almost like she had never been gone. It was just her normal reaction, but it’s been crazy and so nice having her home.”

Bella also made her community debut on Saturday night during a meet and greet with the public.
