86th Blessing of the Fleet Begins Today

All weekend long, the city of Biloxi is celebrating its culture, heritage and legacy with the Blessing of the Fleet, Fais Do Do and Shrimp Festival.
From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow, there will be live music and seafood at Point Cadet. On Sunday, boats lined up behind the Golden Nugget Casino to be blessed to ensure a plentiful shrimp season. Biloxi’s Blessing of the Fleet is the oldest in the state and one of the oldest in the nation.
Kay Carter, Blessing of the Fleet chairman, said, “We have about a hundred vendors, so all sorts of vendors. It’s a family fun event and there are lots of things for kids to do. We have the free splash pad and a free slide and lots of other things for kids to do and lots of great things for adults, too. And some beautiful artwork and great food.”
The Fais Do Do tomorrow is $5 for admission and free for children under 12.
There will also be a Shrimp Queen Pageant and you can meet past Kings and Queens of the Blessing of the Fleet.
