7/2 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

With an area of high pressure directly overhead today was hot, hazy and humid. This will continue for the 4th of July. The main concern for July 4th is the heat index. With temperatures in the low to mid 90s and high humidity it will feel like it is between 95-105 degrees. If you have plans outside make sure to take it easy, drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks. The high pressure will began to move out of the area toward the middle of the week, and because of that rain chances will start to make their way back into the forecast. The remainder of the week will continue to be hot and muggy though. The best rain chances look like they will be this weekend, with the best chance during the afternoon hours.

TROPICAL UPDATE:

An area of low pressure is being watched way out in the Atlantic, just off the coast of Africa. Right now it has a 60% chance of developing into a tropical system within the next five days. This does not pose a threat to South Mississippi as of now, but as always we will keep a close eye on things.
