6/8 – The Chief’s “Dangerous Heat Indices” Thursday Morning Forecast

This morning there are a few high clouds pushing out of our area to the southeast. This will leave us with clear skies allowing plenty of sunshine and rapidly warming temperatures into the upper 80s/low 90s. This afternoon heat indices will reach close to 100, please practice summertime safety. There is a 20% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm or two to bring relief to the heat for some. A weak cold front will push through overnight and stall overhead causing a slight increase in our thunderstorm chance to 30% for Friday. However it will not bring much relief to the temperatures with highs closer to 90.  Saturday and Sunday are similar with a 30% chance of a thunderstorm with high temperatures slightly lower if thunderstorms develop by midday.

Overnight temperatures rise to the upper 70s by the start of the workweek, with high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s until Wednesday. Monday looks to have a 20% chance for thunderstorms. Another weak front stalls out on Tuesday and Wednesday increasing our thunderstorm chances to 30%.
