6/28 – Jeff Vorick’s “Excessive Heat Warning” Wednesday Evening Forecast

This incredible heat is continuing to affect our area. Gulfport broke the daily record high temperature of 98 previously set in 1954, achieving 99 degrees today. The heat index has been over 110 degrees across much of South Mississippi. Not much relief will come overnight as temperatures will struggle to cool below 80 degrees.

An Excessive Heat Warning will continue until 8 PM, and it will be required for Thursday and Friday from 10 AM until 8 PM. Take all necessary precautions including hydration, taking frequent breaks, and limiting time outdoors if at all possible. The hot pattern will continue through the end of the week.

Gradually, ridge of high pressure will break down and more typical summer weather can be expected. Rain chances do return for Friday and remain isolated in nature through the weekend. There could be a more unsettled pattern for next week.
