6/10 – The Chief’s “Hot & Muggy” Monday Morning Forecast
Overnight activity has now diminished across the area. Currently there is a stationary front to the north of the I-20 corridor with showers and thunderstorms to the south of it. Today we will bring mostly cloudy skies becoming partly could this afternoon with a 50% chance for showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will climb to around 90 degrees with the heat index around 100 degrees. The area is under a “Marginal” threat for severity. Overnight the chance for showers and thunderstorm continues with mostly cloudy skies. Tomorrow the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases along with the cloud coverage. Rain chances continue to be elevated through the remainder of the workweek due to the stationary front which meanders north and south. Temperatures will be around average in the low 90s through the end of the week. High pressure moves closer to our area which decreases our rain chances on Saturday. However Sunday rain chances are elevated as a cold front moves into the northern portions of the gulf south states. High temperatures will be around average for the weekend in the low 90s.
